Lactate Profiling
Lactate monitoring allows us to tailor your training to your specific physiological needs.
Measuring blood lactate concentration gives you precision and clarity when analysing your physiological response to training, as well as confidence when determining training priorities throughout the season.
Our lactate profiling services include a step test as well as a field monitoring session.
Your lactate profile, training zones, and training priorities are all determined by the step test (standardised protocol).
The monitoring session (individualised protocol) allows us to clarify the step test results whilst also providing additional data to assist us in understanding what your training priorities are in relation to your goals and fitness level.
Following your purchase, we will contact you to set up dates, times, and locations. Typically, 1-2 weeks will elapse between the step test and the monitoring session.
-
Step Test
Conducted indoors (treadmill or turbo trainer)
60 minutes
Workload gradually increases over time
Monitoring Session
Conducted indoors or outdoors
60+ minutes depending on type of session
Intensity is tailored to your training priorities e.g. 180 minutes @ 210w (LT1) to assess durability at target race pace
We recommend three lactate profiling sessions (step test and monitoring workout) per year for bike and run:
Early Season (General Preparation Phase)
Mid Season (Specific Preparation Phase)
Late Season (Competition Preparation Phase)
